Frequently asked questions about Mysteries & Perils

It is an RPG gamebook you play in your browser: you create a character, move through an illustrated adventure, and every choice changes the story.

It blends the intimacy of a gamebook, where you are the protagonist, with the depth of a tabletop RPG: dice, ability scores, turn-based combat, items that grow better and a character sheet that truly evolves, level by level. And it is a complete online game, with your own account and your progress saved, not an interactive read. It is the thing you look for and rarely find, and I say that because it was that way for me too.

It is a game based on the gamebooks of the 80s and 90s, where you are the protagonist: at each passage, you decide what to do, and your choice defines where the story goes.

In a paper gamebook, you jumped from one numbered paragraph to another as you decided. No. M&P runs right in your browser, on your computer or your phone.

No. Newcomers learn through the game itself, without memorizing any manual.

You are the one in charge of the story, from the first ability score to the last choice. And a two-player co-op mode is already planned, to arrive soon after launch.

The 2024 fifth edition rules, the most played tabletop RPG in the world.

They are adapted for an adventure you play by yourself in the browser, keeping ability scores, skills, feats, conditions and turn-based combat with dice. It is the depth of a real table, without needing a table.
